Campers Camp is for every family and every camp, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or other assistive technology. This statement explains the standard we build to, what we have done, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
Our standard
We build and test camperscamp.com to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That covers the public site, the family dashboard, registration, waivers and payments, and the tools camp staff use, including check-in.
What we have done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
- Text and controls meet AA color contrast, and status (such as Confirmed or Pending) is always written out, never shown by color alone.
- Forms have labels, grouped choices and error messages that screen readers announce.
- Pages use clear headings and landmarks, so screen-reader users can move around quickly.
- Pages work at 200% zoom and on screens as narrow as 320 pixels without sideways scrolling.
- Animation and smooth scrolling turn off when your device is set to reduce motion.
- Links that open a new tab say so, and photos have text descriptions (decorative images are hidden from screen readers).
- We check pages with automated accessibility scans and by hand with a keyboard, and we re-check when we make changes.
Known limits
- Card payments and payout setup take place on pages run by our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe publishes its own accessibility commitments, and we can't change those pages.
- Camps write their own camp descriptions, waivers and messages, and upload their own photos. We give them accessible tools, but the wording and image descriptions are theirs.
- Drag-and-drop group sorting has a menu next to every camper, so staff can do the same thing without dragging.
